NAPOLI(1)

Napoli To Appeal Against Zalayeta Ban

History is repeating itself at Napoli. Just like it happened following the controversial home victory over Juventus (3-1), during which the Partenopei were awarded two dubious penalties, the club have decided to change their defensive strategy in reaction to the suspension of striker Marcelo Zalayeta because of a dive.

After what looked like a more than evident dive by the "Panther" during the match against Torino, which tricked referee Matteo Trefoloni into awarding a penalty, the club had initially announced they would not appeal the subsequent decision to suspend the player for two rounds. Sporting director Pierpaolo Marino even openly criticised the player for his action.

But then, just as after the match against the bianconeri, some TV images convinced the club to change its mind. Contrary to what the club announced initially, they will make an appeal against the sports judge's decision.

"New elements have emerged that could be evaluated better by the Federal Justice Court," said an official statement by the club, who will now hope in a favorable new decision by the authorities.
